Partnership facts

• Vivek and Madhan Bob first met on the sets of Nerrukku Ner (1997) — but they weren't supposed to share screen time. Director K. S. Ravikumar had written a small role for Bob, and Vivek, already a rising comedian, insisted on rewriting their scenes together. That film became the start of a six-year run.
• In Pennin Manathai Thottu (2000), Vivek would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Madhan Bob laugh — and then use Bob's genuine reaction in the final cut. Bob later said that Vivek's unpredictability forced him to stay on his toes, making their comic timing tighter.
• During the shoot of Youth (2002), Vivek and Madhan Bob shared a room in a budget lodge in Kodaikanal for three weeks. Bob cooked simple meals on a hot plate because Vivek hated the hotel food. They never told the crew.
• Their double-act in Thithikudhe (2003) — where they play two bumbling henchmen who keep failing their boss — directly inspired the comic duo track in the 2005 hit Chandramukhi. The director P. Vasu admitted in an interview that he rewatched Thithikudhe's comedy scenes to study their rhythm.
• After Three Roses (2003), they never worked together again — not because of a fight, but because Vivek's career exploded into lead roles and Bob shifted to character parts. Bob still calls Vivek on every Diwali. Vivek picks up on the first ring.
