• For Thevar Magan (1992), director Bharathan wanted a fresh face for the small but key role of the village elder's son. Madhan Bob recommended Thalaivasal Vijay, whom he had just met at a dubbing studio. That one recommendation got Vijay his first major film break.
• On the sets of Tamizh Selvan (1996), Madhan Bob would deliberately flub his lines in the first take to make Thalaivasal Vijay laugh. Vijay then used that real irritation in his performance — the on-screen tension between them was actually Bob winding him up off-camera.
• After Nandhini (1997) bombed hard, both actors made a pact: never again work together unless the script was airtight. They kept that promise for over a decade — their next film together only came in 2010.
• Madhan Bob once told a fan club meet: 'Vijay and I never rehearsed. We just looked at each other and knew who would talk first. That's why our scenes feel like real arguments.'
