• In Sharaabi (1984), Pran’s character is a strict, disapproving father. Amitabh plays his alcoholic son. The film’s emotional core is their fight scene — Pran slaps him, and Amitabh doesn’t flinch. That moment was shot in one take. Pran later said Amitabh’s silence in that scene made him a better actor.
• Pran was the only senior actor Amitabh called 'Pran sahab' on set. Everyone else was 'ji' or 'bhai'. Amitabh once said Pran would quietly correct his dialogue delivery between takes — never in front of the crew. That mentorship lasted through all nine films.
• Dostana (1980) was their first film together, but it almost didn’t happen. The director originally wanted a younger actor for Pran’s role. Pran refused to sign unless Amitabh agreed to do the film. Amitabh was already a superstar. Pran was 60. That film became a hit.

• In Andha Kanoon (1983), Pran plays a blind judge and Amitabh plays his son. The entire courtroom climax depends on Pran’s voice and Amitabh’s physical stillness. Pran set the rhythm of every line. Amitabh matched his pauses exactly. The director said they rehearsed that scene for three days — just the two of them, no crew.
