• They first shared screen space in Azad (2000), but neither was the director's first choice for their roles. Narayana was brought in last minute to replace another comedian who backed out, and Subramanyam was cast only after the original actor demanded a higher fee.
• In Dookudu (2011), Narayana's stammering, nervous delivery played perfectly off Subramanyam's loud, overconfident bluster. They never rehearsed together — Subramanyam would set the rhythm first, and Narayana would deliberately break it with a pause or a stutter, making every scene feel like a real argument.
• Their double-act in Julai (2012) — where Narayana plays a terrified sidekick to Subramanyam's corrupt cop — became a template for the 'comedy villain + nervous henchman' pairing that Telugu cinema reused in at least five films over the next three years.
