• They first shared screen space in 'Shiv Shakti' (1988) because the director needed a villain who could match Govinda's comic energy. Grover was the only one who said yes to playing a negative role opposite a rising comedy star — everyone else wanted to be the hero.
• In 'Do Qaidi' (1989), Grover and Govinda developed a silent signal system on set. Govinda would tap his watch when he was about to launch into an improvised comic bit, and Grover would slow his dialogue delivery to let the joke land — a rhythm they never rehearsed but perfected over five films.
• Their pairing in 'Kali Ganga' (1990) was so disastrous at the box office that it directly killed the trend of pairing a comic hero with a menacing villain in B-movies. Producers stopped green-lighting that combo for nearly three years after this film.
• During the shoot of 'Dulaara' (1994), Govinda personally drove Grover to the hospital at 2 AM when Grover had a severe allergic reaction to a makeup product. They never told the press about it — the director only found out years later.
• Grover once said in a 2017 interview: 'Govinda and I never had a single fight on set. Not one. But we also never had a meal together off set. We were professional strangers who made five films.'
