Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Shatruvu (1990), almost didn't happen. Venkatesh was hesitant to share screen space with a comedian who was still relatively new. Brahmanandam's audition scene was so sharp that Venkatesh personally asked the director to expand his role.
• Brahmanandam once said Venkatesh was the only hero who let him improvise entire scenes without cutting. In Seenu (1999), Venkatesh would deliberately flub his lines just to see what Brahmanandam would come back with. The 7.2 IMDb rating on that film is largely driven by their back-and-forth.
• Their pairing in Malliswari (2004) directly launched the trend of the hero's best friend being a full-blown comic lead with his own track. Every Telugu masala film for the next decade copied that template — from Jai Chiranjeeva to Ready.
• On the sets of Chanti (1992), Brahmanandam would cook his own Andhra-style chicken curry and share it with Venkatesh between shots. Venkatesh later admitted that ritual is what broke the ice between them — they barely spoke before that meal.
