Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Varasudu (1993), was a remake of a Tamil hit. Srikanth was already a star, but Meka Srikanth was a newcomer. The director took a chance on Meka because Srikanth vouched for him after seeing his screen test.
• In Radha Gopalam (2005), Srikanth played the loud, impulsive brother while Meka Srikanth played the calm, responsible one. They deliberately swapped their usual on-screen personas — Srikanth said it kept their scenes from getting predictable.
• Their film Sri Krishna 2006 (2006) was one of the earliest Telugu movies to use a non-linear narrative structure. It directly inspired a wave of experimental storytelling in small-budget Telugu films over the next two years.
• On the sets of Chala Bagundi (2000), the two Srikanths started a running bet: whoever flubbed a dialogue first had to buy lunch for the entire crew. Meka Srikanth lost so often that the unit started calling him 'Lunch Sponsor' for the rest of the shoot.
• Meka Srikanth once said in an interview: 'Working with him is like having a co-pilot who knows the route better than you do. I never had to worry about the scene falling flat — he always had a backup plan.'
